BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is set to host Millikin University in a significant College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match on Friday night at the Shirk Center. The game follows IWU's victory over North Park University on Wednesday, October 2, where they won in straight sets.
The Titans currently hold a record of 10-5 overall and are undefeated in conference play with a 3-0 record. They demonstrated their strength against NPU with 44 kills and a .288 attack percentage, while limiting their opponents to just 23 kills on a .045 clip. Key players included juniors Taylor French and Hannah Tellor, who contributed significantly to the win. French recorded 14 kills and 11 digs, achieving a double-double, while Tellor added seven kills with no errors and led defensively with five blocks.
French is leading the team's offense this season with 224 kills, ranking her 30th in Division III for total kills and 21st for average kills per set. Her points tally stands at 237 for the season. Tellor has also been performing well, ranking second on the team with 128 kills and holding an impressive .384 attack percentage.
Sophomore Sophia Feeney leads in assists for the Titans with a total of 242 this year. As a unit, Illinois Wesleyan boasts one of the top-hitting teams in their conference with an average of 14.22 kills per set.
Defensively, Kannyn Boyd leads the team with 192 digs this season, averaging nearly five digs per set. French follows closely behind with a career total approaching 1,000 digs.
The upcoming match marks the continuation of a longstanding rivalry between IWU and Millikin University. The Big Blue holds a narrow lead in their historical encounters but IWU aims to close that gap on homecoming weekend.
The game will be available via live stream commentary by men's volleyball players Vince DiCosola and Hayden Warfield.
