Earlier this week, Representative Tipsword joined Gabby Garza from the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association to present an Employer Training Investment Program reimbursement grant check to Hardin Industries, LLC in Lacon. The grant was provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Hardin Industries is known for its nearly 50 years of experience in sales, mechanical and electrical engineering, and production leadership within the power generation industry.

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a period dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and emphasizing the importance of early detection. It is also a time to honor those who have battled the disease while continuing efforts towards finding a cure.

In other news, October 1 marked the opening day for Illinois archery deer season. Hunters are encouraged to follow safety guidelines and familiarize themselves with regulations available on the Illinois government website.

For households needing assistance with energy bills, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is currently accepting applications. This program offers help with natural gas, propane, electricity bills, and furnace assistance for income-qualified households until August 15, 2025, or until funds run out.

Additionally, Illinois residents may soon receive checks if they have unclaimed property with the state. A total of $13.2 million in unclaimed property is set to be distributed as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.

Lastly, Toluca in Marshall County is home to two historic Italian restaurants: Mona’s and Capponi’s. Both eateries have been owned by the Bernardi family since 1965 and are located on Main Street with distinctive neon signs marking their presence.
