Illinois State women’s golf leads Parkinson Family Invitational after first two rounds

The Illinois State women's golf team has taken a strong lead after the first two rounds of the Loyola Parkinson Family Invitational, held in Libertyville, Illinois. The team leads by eight strokes and has four golfers in the top ten of the individual rankings. Jinyoung Yun is currently leading the field by three strokes.

Illinois State posted scores of 292 and 294, totaling 586 over 36 holes. Butler follows with a score of 594, with Cal Baptist at 597. Other teams include Dayton and Bowling Green at 603, Saint Thomas at 604, South Dakota at 614, Omaha at 616, Ball State at 617, UIC at 618, Utah Tech at 622, Loyola Chicago at 625, and Creighton at 631.

Jinyoung Yun leads individually with a score of two-under-par (142), while Morgan Jones is tied for second place with one-under-par (141). Freshman Elise Fennell is tied for fourth place with one-over-par. Lory Paradis stands tied for eleventh place as an individual golfer with three-over-par (147). Alex Sparrow and Jessica Jolly round out Illinois State's participation in the tournament.

The final round will take place tomorrow morning starting at 8:30 a.m., featuring teams from Butler and Cal Baptist alongside Illinois State.

Yun had an impressive day one performance with an even-par opening round followed by several birdies to finish three strokes under par. Morgan Jones completed her opening round one stroke under par but concluded her second round even par after recording multiple birdies and bogeys throughout her play.

Freshman Elise Fennell recorded an even-par opening round followed by a solid performance that placed her just above par for day one. Playing as an individual competitor, Lory Paradis improved upon her initial performance to finish day one three shots over par.

Alex Sparrow began his participation five-over-par but managed to recover slightly in subsequent play. Fellow freshman Jessica Jolly also showed promise despite finishing higher than expected during both rounds.
