Junior Aida Shadewald and freshman Khenedi Guest have been recognized by the Missouri Valley Conference for their performances against Missouri State and Southern Illinois. Shadewald was named the MVC Player of the Week, while Guest earned the title of MVC Freshman of the Week.
Shadewald's performance included two double-doubles during Illinois State's victories over Missouri State and Southern Illinois. She averaged 4.00 kills per set with a .338 hitting percentage, along with 3.50 digs per frame and 4.94 points per set. Against Missouri State, she achieved her ninth double-double of the year, recording 17 kills on .382 hitting with 10 digs, leading all players with 19.5 points.
In the match against Southern Illinois, Shadewald continued her strong play with another double-double, registering 15 kills and 18 digs in a four-set win. Her dig total was her highest in an MVC match since her rookie season.
Guest excelled as well, hitting over .400 in both matches to conclude the weekend with 25 kills on 49 attempts (.449) and only three errors, alongside six blocks. She contributed significantly to Illinois State's first win in Springfield since 2021 by posting 12 kills against Missouri State.
Adding to her season tally against Southern Illinois, Guest recorded another 13 kills at a .423 hitting rate. She currently ranks fifth in the league for hitting percentage (.312), being one of just two players in the top ten with more than 300 attempts this season.
This accolade marks Shadewald's first career weekly MVC honor while it is Guest’s second recognition as she was previously named MVC Freshman of the Week on September 23.
Illinois State is set to host Indiana State and Evansville during Alumni Weekend on October 11 and October 12 at CEFCU Arena.
