Illinois Wesleyan cross country teams secure seventh place at Redbird Invite

The Illinois Wesleyan University cross country teams began their 2024 season at the Redbird Invite, hosted by Illinois State University on September 13. Competing against Division I teams, both the men's and women's squads secured seventh-place finishes.

In the women's six-kilometer race, senior Annalese Chudy from Libertyville was notable for finishing 19th with a time of 22:53.60. Freshman Maddie Morgan marked her debut by finishing 35th in 23:46.00. Senior Emma McGrath achieved a personal-best time of 24:31.50, securing the 47th position.

On the men's side, senior Nick Fisch led the Titans, improving his standing during the race to finish 25th in a time of 26:05.30. Junior Zack Daniel followed with a time of 27:00.50 for 46th place. Juniors Seth Hamerski and freshman Jack Thomas finished closely in succession at positions 52nd and 53rd respectively.

Several team members recorded personal-best times on the challenging Weibring Golf Course, including Emma McGrath and Seth Hamerski.

The next event for Illinois Wesleyan will be the Gil Dodds Invitational at Wheaton College on September 21.
