The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team, ranked fifth nationally, claimed victory at the Wabash Fall Invitational on October 8, 2024. The Titans finished with a score of 854 over the 54-hole event at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis. Their 'B' team secured second place with a score of 876.
Senior Griffin Pohl and junior Aidan Healy were central to the team's success. They competed closely throughout the final round, but it was Pohl who ultimately took first place after an impressive performance that included an eagle on No. 17 and a birdie on No. 18. This marked Pohl's first career win as he finished with a personal best total of 209 for the tournament.
Healy followed closely behind in second place with a score of 212, tying his career-best for a 54-hole event. Freshman Pablo Castro and junior Michael Spitzer both tied for third place with scores of 217.
Other notable performances included senior Raj Sethi finishing tied for seventh with a score of 219 and junior Myles Lahart achieving ninth place after posting seven birdies in his final round to end with a score of 220.
The Titans maintained their lead from start to finish, concluding the tournament at 11-under par (854). Millikin took third place in the team standings with a total score of 897, while Rhodes and Hope rounded out the top five.
Illinois Wesleyan is set to wrap up its fall schedule at the Golfweek October Classic from October 14-16.
