The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team achieved a significant milestone by sweeping the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week awards. This achievement follows their impressive victories over top-15 ranked opponents within the conference.
Juniors Taylor French and Kannyn Boyd, along with sophomore Sophia Feeney, were recognized for their performances. French was named hitter of the week, Feeney earned setter of the week honors, and Boyd received the defensive weekly award. This marks the first time a program has secured all three awards since they expanded from two categories before the 2023 season.
Taylor French's recognition as hitter of the week is her first this season but marks her ninth career accolade, setting a record for Illinois Wesleyan. Over the past week, she accumulated 33 kills with an average of 4.71 per set on a .253 attack percentage. Her performance also included 24 digs, five blocks, two aces, two assists, and totaled 37.5 points.
Sophomore Sophia Feeney earned her first career weekly honor by contributing significantly to both offense and defense. She played a pivotal role in orchestrating an offense that hit .216 for the week while restricting opponents to a .119 attack percentage. Feeney completed the week with 38 assists and 17 digs.
Kannyn Boyd played a key role in defense and was awarded her second defensive player of the week title this season. Boyd recorded 49 digs over two matches with an average of seven per set.
These achievements have maintained Illinois Wesleyan's perfect CCIW record at 4-0 and their unbeaten status at home in Shirk Center this season. The Titans are set to host Carthage College for another conference match on October 9 at Shirk Center.
