The Illinois State men's tennis team will conclude its regular season on Saturday in Denver, facing the Summit League leader and No. 43 ranked team. The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
Illinois State holds a record of 14-12 and stands second in the Summit League with a conference record of 3-1. The Redbirds have secured their place in the upcoming Summit League Championship. Last Sunday, they faced North Dakota, where the outcome was decided by the final match. Despite leading with a 3-0 advantage after winning the doubles point and singles matches by Tin Ostro and Emiliano Gonzalez, Illinois State fell to North Dakota with a final score of 4-3.
Denver remains undefeated this season with a perfect record of 19-0 and ranks No. 43 in the latest ITA Computerized Rankings. They are set to host Oral Roberts on Friday before playing against Illinois State on Saturday. A win on Friday would ensure at least a share of the Summit League regular-season title for Denver, while victories in both weekend matches would secure them the title outright.
Last weekend, Denver achieved two road wins within the league, defeating Drake 5-2 on April 5 and Omaha 6-1 on April 7. Nicolas Herrero Cuesta's performance earned him his fourth Summit League Peak Performer of the Week award this season after winning both No. 1 singles matches last weekend.
