The Illinois State women's tennis team continued their successful streak with a narrow 4-3 victory over Drake, marking their fifth consecutive win. This victory also improved their record to 6-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference as they near the end of the regular season.
In doubles play, Illinois State secured an early lead by winning at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The duo of Nevena Kolarevic and Silvia Pomarolli defeated Mille Haagensen and Darinka Stepan with a score of 6-2, while Lana Caculovic and Tijana Zlatanovic clinched the doubles point by overcoming Rebecca Ehn and Ines Stephani with a 6-4 victory.
Drake responded strongly in singles matches, claiming wins at the top three spots to add three points to their tally. However, due to a lack of available players, Drake had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match, giving Illinois State another point. The Redbirds secured their overall win through straight-set victories from Silvia Pomarolli at No. 4 and Nuria Sanz at No. 5.
Illinois State will conclude its regular season on April 21 against Missouri State on Senior Day.
