College Sports Communicators has announced its Academic All-District team, recognizing top student-athletes for their performance both on the field and in academics. The Illinois State softball program had five players honored: Kaili Chval, Delainey Bryant, Abby Knight, Addison Masching, and Bella Wilkerson.

"The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Softball team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom," stated the organization. The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA.

To qualify for this honor, athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA and meet specific playing time requirements. Each school can nominate up to five students. Honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot with announcements of first-team, second-team, and third-team honorees expected later this month.

Kaili Chval from Aurora is a fifth-year senior outfielder who received her first CSC Academic All-District honor after an impressive season. She graduated with a 3.71 GPA in Exercise Science and will continue her studies at Mass General Hospital Institute in Boston.

Delainey Bryant from Mattoon earned her second consecutive nod to the CSC Academic All-District Team while maintaining a 3.95 GPA in Elementary Education. Her notable achievements include leading the Valley in hits with 60 during the 2024 season.

Abby Knight from Bloomington also earned her second selection to the CSC Academic All-District team with a 3.85 GPA in Public Relations. She was named MVC Player of the Week for the first time this year.

Addison Masching from Pontiac achieved her first career nod to this academic distinction with a perfect 4.0 GPA in Physical Education over two years.

Bella Wilkerson from Mokena received her first-ever CSC Academic All-District Honor alongside maintaining a 3.88 GPA in Public Relations.

These recognitions highlight Illinois State's commitment to excellence both athletically and academically within its softball program.
