The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the Dan Huston Invite this weekend. The event, hosted by Wartburg College, will take place in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, September 30. The men's race is scheduled for 9:45 a.m., followed by the women's race at 10:25 a.m.
The competition will include 26 collegiate and club teams. Among them are seven regionally ranked teams for the men's 8-kilometer race and five for the women's 6-kilometer race. Wartburg College, the host of the meet, holds second place in regional rankings for both its men's and women's teams. Additionally, Wartburg's men's team is ranked 17th nationally.
Illinois Wesleyan's women's team is ranked among the top-10 in the region. Sophomore Adriana Crabtree from Normal, Illinois, and junior Annalese Chudy from Libertyville, Illinois have been leading their team this season. Crabtree was the top finisher for her team in previous races this season, with a recent time of 23:03.07 at Illinois State's Redbird Invite on September 15, where she finished 26th overall across all divisions. Chudy completed her run with a time of 23:43.70 in the same event to secure a 52nd-place finish.
On the men's side, junior Nick Fisch from Woodridge, Illinois and senior Josh Tong from Naperville, Illinois have led their team's efforts in earlier races this season. At the Redbird Invite, Fisch managed to surpass four competitors in his final stretch to finish 74th overall with a time of 27:01.3. Tong completed his run on the 8-kilometer course with a time of 27:34.1 to achieve an overall placement of 82nd.
