The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team is leading after the first round of the Jim Butts Classic, hosted by Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. The Titans' 'A' team secured the top position with a score of two-under par at the South Side Country Club. Their 'B' team followed closely in second place with a score of 293.
In total, nine players from Illinois Wesleyan are among the top-10 finishers after 18 holes, and four are within the top-five in this 50-player tournament. Fifth-year Bobby Beaubien and junior Quinn Clifford lead their teammates, both tied for second place with scores of two-under. They trail Millikin's Luke Bradley by two strokes.
Sophomore Myles Lahart holds fourth place with a one-under 70, while Jackson Hulsey sits in fifth at even par 72. Juney Bai and Griffin Pohl are tied for seventh at two-over 73. Michael Spitzer, Alec Cross, and freshman DJ Norman share tenth place with scores of four-over par.
