The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team secured its second consecutive victory at the Jim Butts Classic, held in Decatur, Illinois. The event was hosted by Millikin University on September 30, 2023. The Titans finished with a score of three-under 281 on the par-71 course, improving by one stroke from their previous round to win the team title.

Junior Quinn Clifford led the Titans to success with his individual win. Clifford shot a three-under 68 and birdied his final hole to earn medalist honors. Fifth-year player Bobby Beaubien achieved a two-under 69, securing second place. Junior Griffin Pohl posted the best round for IWU over the weekend with a four-under 67, placing him third overall. Sophomore Jackson Hulsey completed an even-par performance across both rounds, finishing fourth.

Other notable performances included sophomore Michael Spitzer's one-under finish for sixth place and sophomore Myles Lahart's seventh-place result. Freshman DJ Norman tied for eighth, while junior Raj Sethi tied for tenth.

IWU's 'A' team ended five-under as a collective through two rounds, dominating the leaderboard. Their 'B' squad also performed well, finishing thirteen-over par and securing second place by a wide margin of twenty-two strokes ahead of third-place Millikin.

Looking ahead, IWU will have two weeks off before competing in the Golfweek Fall Invite in Sandestin, Florida from October 15-17. During this break, IWU plans to dedicate the Wuethrich Skills Lab during Homecoming on October 7 at 10 a.m., followed by a football game against WashU at 1 p.m.
