Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf team secured a significant victory at their home tournament on April 6, finishing with a 24-stroke lead. The Titans achieved a total score of 568 over the course of the event held at Weibring Golf Club, where six players from IWU ranked in the top ten individually.
Quinn Clifford and Griffin Pohl, both juniors, tied for second place just one stroke behind the medalist position. Clifford recorded an even-par 71 while Pohl finished with a one-under 70, resulting in both achieving a tournament score of 141.
Bobby Beaubien, a fifth-year player, earned seventh place with scores totaling 143 over two days. Junior Raj Sethi posted IWU's best round of the weekend with a three-under 68 to secure eighth place. Sophomore Michael Spitzer tied for tenth with a score of 146 across two rounds.
The Titans led the competition by scoring 568 points overall. Bethel University followed in second place with a score of 592. The Titan 'B' team also performed well, securing third place with a total score of 596. Teams from UW-Eau Claire, Aurora University, Hope College, and St. John's University all tied for fourth place with scores of 598.
The next event for Illinois Wesleyan is scheduled for April 15-16 at the Cochran Collegiate in Memphis, Tennessee.
