Illinois Wesleyan ties for fifth at Cochran Collegiate golf tournament

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team, ranked fourth nationally, tied for fifth place at the Cochran Collegiate held on April 16 at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee. The team concluded the 54-hole event with a score of 906 on the par-72, 7037-yard course.

Sophomore Juney Bai from Mokena, Illinois, and junior Griffin Pohl from Western Springs, Illinois, led the team. Bai tied for 18th place with a score of 225 after shooting a four-over-par 76 in the final round. Pohl moved up nine positions on the leaderboard with a two-over-par 74 in the final round, finishing with a total score of 226 and tying for 21st place.

Huntingdon College secured the team title with an overall score of 873, supported by Jack Burr's medalist performance (72-72-69=213). Oglethorpe University placed second with scores of (293-301-301=895), while Babson College and Rhodes College finished third and fourth respectively. Illinois Wesleyan tied for fifth place along with Christopher Newport University and Hampden Sydney College.

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans will compete again later this week at the Take Back the Night Challenge in Decatur from April 19 to April 20.
