The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team is leading after the first round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship. The tournament, held at WeaverRidge Golf Course in Peoria, Illinois, saw IWU finish with a three-under 285, giving them a significant 12-stroke lead.
Bobby Beaubien from Barrington, Illinois, leads the individual standings with a two-under 70. He started strong by eagling No. 1 and added birdies on holes nine, eleven, and thirteen.
Quinn Clifford ended his day one under par and shares third place. Griffin Pohl and Juney Bai are tied for fifth with even-par scores of 72. Michael Spitzer is tied for thirteenth after posting a two-over 74.
Illinois Wesleyan was the only team to score par or better in this round. Carthage and Wheaton are both tied for second place with scores of 297. Augustana follows in fourth place with a score of 306, while Carroll holds fifth at 309.
