Thirty-seven teams and over 200 golfers gathered in Bloomington-Normal for the Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team's home tournament. The Titans ended the first day with a score of five under-par 283 at the Ironwood Golf Course, leading the field by 11 strokes.
Junior Quinn Clifford from Chicago is tied for first place on the leaderboard after scoring a two-under 70. He shares this position with Central's Harold Dobernecker.
Fifth-year Bobby Beaubien, sophomore Michael Spitzer, and junior Griffin Pohl are all tied for third place, just one stroke behind the leaders, each shooting a 71. Senior Jack Bruening, competing as part of the 'C' team, scored an even par and is tied for sixth.
Gustavus Adolphus follows IWU in second place with a score of 294. Hope and UW-Eau Claire are tied for third, while Bethel holds fifth position. The IWU 'B' team is tied for tenth place, while their 'C' team is in sixteenth.
The final round will begin tomorrow at Weibring Golf Club with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available through Golfstat.
