The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team achieved a second-place finish at the Golfweek October Classic, held at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida. The team completed the tournament with a 54-hole score of 860, following rounds of 279, 290, and 291.
Methodist University secured first place with a total score of 843, highlighted by a final round of 277. Lynchburg College finished third, just one stroke behind Illinois Wesleyan, with a score of 861. Emory University and Carnegie Mellon University took fourth and fifth places respectively. Methodist's Cameron Cappuzzo was the individual medalist with scores of 66, 71, and 66 for a total of 203.
Illinois Wesleyan's top performer was junior Quinn Clifford from Chicago, Illinois. He finished eighth overall with scores of 66, 73, and 74 for a total of 213. Sophomore Juney Bai from Mokena, Illinois tied for ninth place after shooting an even-par final round to end with a score of 214.
Fifth-year player Bobby Beaubien from Barrington, Illinois made significant progress on the last day by birdieing four out of his final eight holes. He concluded the event tied for twentieth place with scores of 70, 75, and an even-par final round to finish at 216.
The Titans will next compete in the NCAA Division III Preview at Boulder Creek Country Club in Las Vegas from October 29-31. This tournament marks their last competition for the fall season and offers them an early look at the venue for the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship in May.
