The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to four matches on Saturday, October 21, with victories over Colby College and Endicott College at the Colby College Tournament in Waterville, Maine. The Titans improved their season record to 11-12 by defeating Colby (15-6) in four sets and subsequently sweeping Endicott (9-11) in three sets.
In the match against Colby, Illinois Wesleyan secured a win with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 14-25, and 25-16. The Titans managed to end Colby's eight-match winning streak. Taylor French led the team with game-highs of 24 kills, 19 digs, and three aces. "French paced the Titans in kills, digs, and aces in their first match of the day," as stated in the release. Other notable performances included Taylor Babec and Morgan Harrington with seven kills each.
On defense, Halle Smith recorded a career-high of 15 digs. Jordan Pierce contributed significantly with a double-double performance of 34 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Olivia deGuzman and Sophia Feeney also made substantial contributions with 11 digs each.
Against Endicott College, six players from Illinois Wesleyan achieved four or more kills. French once again led with 11 kills while Lily Summers added eight kills to her name. Pierce and Katie Gund each provided 12 assists during this match. Babec excelled with three aces while sharing the team lead in blocks alongside Palmer.
Illinois Wesleyan demonstrated dominance offensively against Endicott by achieving a .255 attacking percentage compared to Endicott's .011. They recorded leads in various statistics including kills (40-21), digs (43-35), and aces (8-2).
Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will face Wheaton College on Wednesday, October 25th for their final road match before returning home.
