The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team is set to face Wheaton College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The game will take place at King Arena in Wheaton, Illinois, with the first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan's Titans, holding an 11-12 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the CCIW, are coming off a successful weekend in Maine where they secured three victories. She recorded 89 kills over the past week with an average of 5.24 kills per set and was named CCIW Hitter of the Week for the fourth time this season.
French leads the Titans offensively with impressive national rankings: third in both total kills (420) and points (476), while her averages of 4.52 kills per set and 5.12 points per set rank eighth nationally. Senior Lily Summers follows with 139 kills, while junior Morgan Harrington has contributed 132.
On the assist front, freshman Sophia Feeney and senior Jordan Pierce lead with totals of 312 and 311 assists respectively. French also leads the team with 39 aces this season.
Defensively, senior Faith Washko tops the team's dig count with 322, closely followed by French's 318 digs. Freshman Eleanor Palmer has made a significant impact at the net with a team-high of 57 blocks during her first collegiate season.
In their most recent match against Endicott College on October 21, IWU won decisively in straight sets. French led offensively again with contributions from Summers and Harrington.
The upcoming contest marks the teams' 43rd meeting; IWU holds a strong historical advantage over Wheaton College with a series record of 31-11. In their last encounter on October 25, IWU triumphed in straight sets.
Wheaton enters this match after securing a win against Kalamazoo College on October 21.
