Sophomore Taylor French from Illinois Wesleyan University has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week. This is her third time receiving this award in the current season, marking the fifth such recognition in her career.
French's performance during the week of October 9-15 was noteworthy as she competed against three ranked teams. She achieved 58 kills with a .281 attack percentage, averaging 4.46 kills per set. Additionally, she recorded 48 digs at an average of 3.69 per set, along with five assists, three blocks, two aces, and completed each match with a double-double.
In a match against North Park on October 11, French delivered a standout performance with 21 kills and 21 digs on a .315 attack percentage. She also contributed two assists and one block for her team. Against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on October 14, French faced one of the top defenses in the nation and managed to achieve 18 kills on a .333 attack percentage while securing another double-double with 17 digs and two blocks.
Her final game of the week was against Washington University in St. Louis where she recorded a double-double with 19 kills and ten digs. Her impressive showing at the WashU tournament earned her all-tournament honors.
The Titans are scheduled to play next against Elmhurst University on Tuesday night, October 17 at Shirk Center.
