The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team faced a defeat against Millikin University in their latest College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match. The game, held at Millikin's home ground on Wednesday night, ended with a 2-0 victory for the Big Blue.
The Titans' current record stands at 1-8-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play, while Millikin improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW.
In the first half, neither team managed to score. However, Millikin dominated with an 11-2 lead in shots. Junior goalkeeper Audrey Hofstetter from Gilbert, Arizona, playing for the Titans, made three saves during this period.
The second half saw both teams equalizing their efforts with three shots each. Despite this balance, Millikin capitalized on their opportunities. They took the lead in the 51st minute through a corner kick continuation. Later, forward Hailie Schaffman secured the win for Millikin with a long-range goal in the 69th minute.
Illinois Wesleyan will be on the road again this Saturday as they face Wheaton College Thunder at Joe Bean Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
