Illinois Wesleyan University's junior javelin thrower, Caitlin McCane from Bloomington, Illinois, participated in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was the only representative from her university to compete on the opening day of the event, which took place on Thursday, March 14.

McCane competed in the women's javelin throw and achieved her best mark with a second throw reaching 31.50 meters (103'4"). This performance placed her ninth in the preliminary rounds and allowed her to secure a spot in the finals. Ultimately, she finished ninth out of 48 competitors.

The Illinois Wesleyan Titans are scheduled to participate in eight events on Friday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The men's long jump is set to begin at 10:30 a.m., marking the first field event for IWU. Meanwhile, their first track event will be the men's 110-meter high hurdles starting at 12:30 p.m.

Further details about the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, including schedules and heat sheets, can be found on the meet's homepage. Live results will be available online, with final results posted on iwusports.com after the conclusion of the meet.
