Days after a successful doubleheader against Emory University, Illinois Wesleyan University's freshman outfielder Hailey Milgazo was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week on Monday, March 18. This recognition marks the first weekly award of her career and the first time this season that a Titan has received the league's weekly hitter award.
Milgazo's performance at Emory was remarkable as she finished the road doubleheader with an impressive 8-for-9, achieving a .889 batting average. The Poway, California native reached base in each of her nine at-bats, scored six runs for her team, and stole one base. She began with a perfect 4-for-4 in game one and followed it up with a 4-for-5 performance in game two, scoring three runs in each match.
This accolade places Milgazo alongside sophomore pitcher Gianna Certa as Illinois Wesleyan University's second weekly conference honoree this season. Certa was previously named the CCIW Pitcher of the Week on March 11.
Illinois Wesleyan University is set to open its home schedule against Monmouth College on Thursday, March 21. The game will begin at 3 p.m. at Inspiration Field.
