Illinois State soccer team is preparing to face Indiana State at Adelaide Street Field on Sunday. The match will be available for viewing on ESPN+ and is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Illinois State, with a record of 3-7-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), aims to maintain its unbeaten streak in October against Indiana State, which holds a 7-4-3 overall record and a 2-1-2 MVC record.

The Redbirds have historically dominated the series against the Sycamores, leading with a 21-7-1 margin. However, they are seeking their first victory over Indiana State since 2019. At Adelaide Street Field, Illinois State has been successful in maintaining a strong record of 12 wins and only three losses against Indiana State.

In last year's encounter, Indiana State emerged victorious with a 2-0 win in Terre Haute.

Recently, two Illinois State players received recognition from the MVC. Sophomore Erika Wells was named MVC Player of the Week, while Eve Gricius earned Valley Freshman of the Week honors. Wells contributed significantly to her team's performance by assisting all three goals last week as Illinois State achieved a win and a draw in conference play. Her notable performance included setting up crucial goals against Valparaiso and Murray State.

Gricius scored her first career goal, securing the game-winning point for Illinois State against Valparaiso. She has participated in twelve games this season, starting once, and is among three freshmen who have scored for the Redbirds this season.

Last week also saw several Redbirds scoring their first collegiate goals. Eiley Henderson and Gricius found the net against Valparaiso, while Aniya Seymore scored at Murray State. Earlier in the season, Sammi Cenek and Chloe Cline scored their first career goals during the season opener against Green Bay.
