Saturday's football game at Hancock Stadium saw Illinois State fall to Missouri State with a final score of 41-7. The Redbirds, now holding a record of 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC), struggled against the Bears, who are ranked #25.

Missouri State established an early lead with a 62-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Clark to D'Vonte Key. This was followed by a fumble recovery and return for a touchdown by Michael Teason, pushing the score to 14-0. Yousef Obeid added three more points with a field goal before the first quarter ended.

The Bears continued their offensive momentum with another touchdown pass from Clark to Lance Mason before halftime, making it 24-0. In the third quarter, Clark connected with James BlackStrain for another touchdown, increasing their lead to 31-0.

Illinois State managed to get on the scoreboard when Wenkers Wright scored on a nine-yard run. However, Missouri State responded with another field goal from Obeid and capped off their scoring with Jacardia Wright's one-yard touchdown run.

Despite the loss, some Redbirds players achieved personal milestones. Xavier Loyd recorded six receptions for 99 yards, while Daniel Sobkowicz had eight receptions totaling 81 yards. Jake Rubley threw for a season-best 167 yards. Defensively, Tye Niekamp and Lavoise-Deontae McCoy each made ten tackles.

Illinois State will next face Murray State in an away game scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.
