Illinois State University's volleyball team achieved a significant victory over the Evansville Purple Aces, marking their fifth consecutive win. The Redbirds secured a straight-set sweep at CEFCU Arena, improving their Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) record to 5-1 and tying with Bradley for second place in the standings.
During the first set, Illinois State established dominance with a decisive 6-0 run, ultimately winning 25-13. The second set was more competitive, but a late surge gave the Redbirds a narrow 25-23 victory. In the final set, Illinois State maintained control to close out the match with a 25-18 win.
Aida Shadewald led Illinois State with 14 kills, while Sammi Bunch contributed eight digs. Mekaila Aupiu provided 32 assists and two total blocks. Khenedi Guest stood out with three service aces and achieved one of the highest hitting percentages in CEFCU Arena history at .750.
