The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team concluded its fall season with a seventh-place finish at the Golfweek October Classic held in Sandestin, Florida. The team achieved a 54-hole total of 852 on the par-71, 6623-yard Raven Golf Club course.
Senior Quinn Clifford from Chicago was the top performer for Illinois Wesleyan, tying for 16th place with a score of 211 after three days. Clifford ended the tournament with a one-under-par round of 71.
Griffin Pohl and Michael Spitzer both tied for 28th place. Pohl recorded Illinois Wesleyan's best score on the final day with a two-under-par 69, finishing with an overall score of 213. Spitzer finished one-over-par on Tuesday to match Pohl's total.
Washington & Lee University secured the team title by finishing at 30-under-par, leading the event with a total score of 822. Sewanee came in second at seven strokes behind Washington & Lee, while LeTourneau took third place. Methodist and Lynchburg shared fourth position.
The competition marked the end of Illinois Wesleyan's fall schedule, and they are expected to resume their campaign in spring. Details about their upcoming matches will be announced soon.
