Eiley Henderson, a standout player for Illinois State, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday following her notable contribution to Illinois State's 3-1 victory over Indiana State at Adelaide Street Field.
In the match, Henderson scored a goal and provided an assist, helping to extend Illinois State's unbeaten streak to three games. Her goal came in the 10th minute, giving her team an early lead. This was her second goal since MVC play began. She also assisted on what would be the game-winning goal by Eve Gricius later in the first half, marking Henderson's first career assist.
Henderson is distinguished as the only true freshman in the MVC this year to achieve a one-goal, one-assist performance in a conference game. She leads all true freshmen in MVC play with five points, comprising two goals and one assist this season.
This accolade marks the second week in a row that an Illinois State player has been recognized as MVC Freshman of the Week; Eve Gricius received the honor on October 8.
