The Illinois State Women's Tennis team is set to participate in the Eastern Illinois University Panther Invite from October 18-20. The event will take place at Darling Courts, with matches beginning at 9 am each day. The competition includes teams from Illinois State, Eastern Illinois University (EIU), Miami of Ohio, and Purdue Northwest.
In recent action, Illinois State juniors Silvia Pomarolli and Lana Caculovic competed in the ITA Midwest Regionals at Ohio State University. Both players advanced to the third day of competition but were eventually defeated. In doubles play, Pomarolli and Caculovic reached the third day before losing to Marquette's Jarmond/Weise.
Eastern Illinois University's Charleigh Fay recently competed in the Ohio Valley Conference ITA hosted by Middle Tennessee State University. Fay secured victories over SIU Edwardsville and Lindenwood before being defeated by Chloe Routier from Western Illinois.
Miami of Ohio's team participated in the Ohio Valley Conference ITA Regionals last weekend. Sara Zalukar and Lauren Joyce progressed to the third day of singles play, while Joyce and Nishitha Saravanan won the consolation championship title in doubles.
Purdue Northwest has not played since September 15 at the ITA Regionals in Michigan, where they achieved three singles victories and four doubles wins. Players Oona Kintscher, Haizea Lopez, and Tamiya Linz advanced to the championship bracket round of 64.
Following this weekend's tournament, Illinois State will host the Redbird Duals on November 2 at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club.
