Illinois State University's women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to four games with a 1-0 victory over Evansville on Thursday. Freshman Kennedy Herman scored her first career goal, which also marked her first game-winning goal of the season. The goal came in the 54th minute, assisted by Jade Rehberger from a free kick.

The Redbirds' goalkeeper, redshirt freshman Madi Valenti, recorded her fourth shutout of the year. Despite not registering any shots in the first half, Illinois State managed eight shots in the second half against Evansville's Purple Aces, with four on target.

Evansville led the overall shot count at 20-8 and had an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal. Illinois State took six corner kicks during the match, four of which were in the second half. Valenti made eight saves throughout the game to secure the win for Illinois State.

Kennedy Herman became the seventh Redbird player this season to score her first career goal. Other players who have achieved this milestone include Chloe Cline and Sammi Cenek against Green Bay on August 15th; Henderson and Gricius against Valparaiso on October 3rd; Aniya Seymore against Murray State on October 6th; and Abby Hall against Indiana State on October 13th.

The Redbirds will continue their road trip with an upcoming match against UIC in Chicago scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
