The Illinois State men's golf team is set to conclude its 2024 fall season with a trip to the west coast. The team will compete in the Leadership & Golf Collegiate Championship from Monday through Wednesday at the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California.
The event, taking place on October 22-23, features a par-72 course stretching over 7,044 yards. Participants include teams such as BYU, Loyola Marymount, Sam Houston, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Illinois State, Seattle, Nevada, Cal Baptist, and UC Irvine. Rankings for these teams range from BYU at 35th to Nevada at 180th according to Clippd National Rankings.
Illinois State's lineup includes TJ Barger teeing off at 11:44 a.m., followed by Alex McCulla and Pietro Pontiggia at 11:56 a.m., Aiden Cudney and Will Troy at 12:08 p.m., with Francis Bautista competing individually at 12:32 p.m.
This marks the first time Illinois State has participated in this championship. The course has been redesigned by Gene Bates and offers expanded views of Monterey Bay. It has transitioned from tightly tree-lined holes to a more open layout while maintaining strategic challenges.
