The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams faced a challenging field at the Augustana Interregional Invitational in Rock Island, Illinois, on Saturday, October 19. The women's team finished 23rd out of 35 teams, while the men's team secured the 34th spot out of 40.

The event took place at Saukie Golf Course, which will host the Division III Midwest Regional Championship race in November. The IWU women accumulated 594 points to achieve their placement, with Colorado College taking first place with 56 points. On the men's side, IWU scored 995 points as Wartburg College won the meet with 41 points.

In the women's race, junior athlete from Normal, Illinois, achieved the top finish for IWU by placing 39th after advancing three positions in the final stretch. She completed her run in a time of 22:22.4 within a field of 355 competitors.

Freshman from Glen Ellyn finished in 108th place with a time of 23:20.4. Senior from Libertyville clocked in at 23:36.7 to secure the 137th position.

Senior from Woodridge led the men's team and has been IWU's top finisher throughout four races this season. He set a personal-best time of 25:36.0 against strong competition to finish in 78th place among a field of 436 participants.

Freshman from Bloomington completed his race in a time of 27:07.4 for an overall placement of 257th, while junior from Mount Vernon achieved a personal best with a time of 27:16.0.

IWU is scheduled to compete next at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on Saturday, November 2 at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois.
