Illinois State's women's soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday, losing 2-0 to UIC. The match, held in Chicago, marked a significant moment for both teams in the Missouri Valley Conference standings.
UIC opened the scoring with a goal in the 43rd minute. Before this, Illinois State had been pushing hard to break the deadlock. Sammi Cenek had a notable chance in the 37th minute when she took a shot from inside the box that resulted in a corner kick for her team.
Camryn Ries was pivotal for UIC, scoring both goals. Her first came just before halftime, giving UIC a 1-0 lead. She doubled their advantage shortly after play resumed with another goal in the 51st minute.
In response, Ava Watson attempted two shots on target during the second half for Illinois State, but both were saved by UIC's defense.
