Illinois Wesleyan University senior Gage Black has been named an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention. The announcement was made on January 31, recognizing Black's achievements as a midfielder for the men's lacrosse team.
This accolade adds to Black's list of honors, which includes the 2023 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America Honorable Mention and First Team Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region 5 awards.
Last season, Black played a key role in Illinois Wesleyan's journey to the NCAA tournament. He scored 49 goals, making him the second-highest scorer on his team, and accumulated 53 points over 19 games. His eight man-up goals were tied for the most within the Titan squad. Additionally, Black secured First-Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin accolades with his performance of 22 goals in eight conference games.
Notably, Black is the only player from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin to receive this preseason honor from Inside Lacrosse.
Illinois Wesleyan will begin its 2024 season on February 17 in Holland, Michigan, with a game against Hope College.
