After a narrow victory in the semifinal round, Illinois Wesleyan University's men's lacrosse team is set to host Elmhurst University in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament Championship. The game will take place at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, May 4.

Illinois Wesleyan, holding a 12-3 record, secured their spot in the final after defeating Carthage College with a score of 12-11. Senior Gage Black led the team with five goals, while freshman Timothy McHugh contributed three assists. Sophomore Noah Dretzka added two goals and two assists, and junior Colin Tervo made 17 saves and collected seven ground balls.

Elmhurst University, with a record of 13-3, overcame North Central College in their semifinal match by rallying from a six-goal deficit to win 13-11. This marks Elmhurst's second appearance in the championship game since 2019 when they lost to Illinois Wesleyan.

Illinois Wesleyan aims for its sixth CCIW Tournament title. They hold a dominant series record against Elmhurst with 12 wins out of 13 meetings. Their most recent encounter was on April 20, where Illinois Wesleyan emerged victorious with a score of 15-13.

The upcoming match will feature Eli Spence from Elmhurst, who is recognized as the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year, against Illinois Wesleyan's senior Michael Campagna, awarded CCIW Defensive Player of the Year.

The championship game will begin at noon on Saturday. Admission prices are set at $10 for adults and $5 for seniors aged 65+, students, and children aged 6-14. Children under five and current CCIW students with valid IDs can enter for free.
