The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team secured a decisive 20-8 victory over Southwestern University at Tucci Stadium on Thursday night. This marks the Titans' return to their home field since March 2 and improves their season record to 5-3, while Southwestern falls to 2-10.

The game commenced with junior Sam Weinberg facilitating an early goal for senior Ike Eastburn, putting the Titans on the scoreboard. Despite Southwestern's initial response with three consecutive goals, senior Gage Black closed the first quarter by narrowing the gap to 3-2.

Illinois Wesleyan then launched a six-goal streak in the second quarter, featuring contributions from Eastburn, sophomore Kaden Gammelgaard, and Seeley. The team's offensive momentum continued as Eastburn and Lombardo scored within nine seconds of each other, expanding IWU's lead to 7-3.

By halftime, the Titans held a 9-4 advantage after goals from Noah Dretzka and Trystan Seeley. The third quarter saw Illinois Wesleyan extend their lead further with quick goals from Weinberg, Gammelgaard, and Seeley. Black and John Kittoe also contributed to pushing the score to 14-4 before ending the quarter at 15-6.

In the final period, Illinois Wesleyan maintained control with additional goals from Weinberg, Eastburn, and Bobby Conroy. The match concluded with Seeley and Eastburn each scoring four goals and tying for team leadership in points alongside Weinberg.

Defensively, senior Michael Campagna excelled with five caused turnovers and ground balls. Junior Colin Tervo recorded nine saves as he secured victory in goal for IWU.

Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will host the University of Dubuque on April 3 before starting conference play against Augustana College on April 6 at Tucci Stadium.
