The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team has seen two of its senior players, Gage Black and Michael Campagna, receive recognition as United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Blatant Division III All-American Honorable Mentions. This announcement was made on Thursday morning, May 23.
Black and Campagna's achievements continue a tradition for the Titans, marking the fourth consecutive year that a player from the team has earned All-American status. Previous honorees include Max Bousky in 2021, Rick Smith in 2021 and 2022, and Carson Kiichle in 2023. Black is now only the second player in the program's history to achieve this honor in back-to-back seasons, having been recognized last year as well. For Campagna, this marks his first time receiving such distinction.
Gage Black had an outstanding season as he led his team with 71 points and scored 51 goals. He also recorded the third-most assists for Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) as a midfielder. Black began the season as an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American and received his third All-CCIW honor by being named to the conference's first team for the second consecutive year. He finished second in Division III with 14 man-up goals.
Michael Campagna excelled defensively during his senior year, leading IWU with 33 caused turnovers and collecting 51 ground balls. As a senior defender and captain, he earned his third All-CCIW honor by making his debut on the First Team selection list. Additionally, Campagna was named Defensive Player of the Year after leading an IWU defense that restricted conference opponents to just 30 goals during regular play.
Both Black and Campagna were among five CCIW student-athletes who received this recognition alongside Elmhurst University's Eli Spence and Tony Vasquez, as well as North Central College's Dylan Mlinarich.
