The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team concluded their spring break trip with a win over Colorado College. The match took place on March 16 at Washburn Fields in Colorado Springs, ending with a score of 17-15 in favor of Illinois Wesleyan. This victory brings IWU to a 3-3 record for the season, while Colorado College stands at 4-3.

Senior Gage Black from Peoria, Illinois, led the Titans with an impressive performance, achieving a career-high of 10 points through seven goals and three assists. Freshman Timothy McHugh from Orland Park, Illinois also made his mark with eight points by scoring four goals and assisting four times. Sophomore Andrew Ortega from Austin, Texas contributed four points as well.

Senior Zo Lombardo from Elgin, Illinois won 20 out of 34 faceoffs. Junior Nick Horrocks from Boulder, Colorado was notable for causing four turnovers and collecting four ground balls. Junior Colin Tervo from West Linn, Oregon secured the win as goalie with a total of 12 saves.

The game began evenly matched with both teams scoring four goals each in the first quarter. In the second period, IWU gained momentum with a four-goal streak starting with McHugh's assist to Black for a man-up goal. The half ended at 8-6 after two late goals by Colorado College.

In the third period, McHugh scored two man-down goals assisted by Black to extend their lead to 10-6 before Colorado College leveled the score at 10-all. After trading goals throughout the third quarter, IWU finished ahead at 13-12 thanks to contributions from McHugh and sophomore Kaden Gammelgaard from Lake Zurich, Illinois.

In the final quarter, just seconds in McHugh set up Black for another man-up goal putting them ahead again. Despite efforts by Colorado College to catch up, IWU maintained their lead ultimately winning the game at 17-15.

IWU will next travel to Albion, Michigan on March 23 for their upcoming match against Albion College scheduled for 1 p.m ET.
