Illinois Wesleyan concludes Carthage Classic; prepares for training trip to Florida

The Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) men's and women's swim and dive teams concluded their participation in the Carthage Classic on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The Titans competed in a total of 36 events throughout the meet. Both the men's and women's teams secured fifth place overall, with scores of 829 and 940 points, respectively. Carthage took first place for the men, while St. Norbert claimed victory for the women.

Senior Lane Wagner from Danville, Illinois, delivered notable performances for the men's team. He finished fourth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:22.62 and placed third in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:02.44. Freshman Jack Hansen from Naperville followed closely behind Wagner in the butterfly event, securing fifth place with a time of 2:02.81. Junior Carter Dilger from Sellersburg came sixth at 2:04.26. Senior Ethan Lowder from Bloomington placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.73.

On the women's side, fifth-year Lauren Feddersen from Champaign achieved third place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:51.68 and ninth place in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.11. Junior Hadley Fudge from Stanford also competed in the breaststroke event, finishing third with a time of 1:08.21.

Looking ahead, IWU's swim team will travel to Venice, Florida from December 27 to January 6 during their holiday break to prepare for upcoming competitions.
