Illinois Wesleyan prepares to host Aurora in men's lacrosse matchup

The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is preparing to host Aurora University at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, March 2. This follows their recent victory over Benedictine, where they secured a 24-8 win, improving their season record to 1-2.

Sophomore Andrew Ortega from Austin, Texas, led the Titans with nine points, including six goals and three assists. Senior Gage Black from Peoria, Illinois contributed seven points with three goals and four assists. Freshman Timothy McHugh from Orland Park, Illinois added five points and achieved a team-high of nine ground balls. Defensively, juniors Nick Horrocks and Colin Tervo made significant contributions. Tervo started in goal with seven saves before senior Alex Oximana added nine more saves.

Gage Black currently leads the team with 14 points this season. Ortega follows closely with 11 points. Senior Ike Eastburn holds the team lead in goals scored with eight. At faceoff, senior Zo Lombardo has been effective with a .690 success rate.

Aurora University enters the game with a 1-1 record after defeating the University of Dubuque on February 24 by a score of 13-12.

Historically, IWU holds a 7-4 advantage over Aurora in their matchups and is currently on a six-game winning streak against them. In their last encounter, IWU won decisively with Eastburn scoring seven goals.

The upcoming game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Tucci Stadium and will be available via live stats and streaming through iwusports.com.
