The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swim and dive teams concluded their final home meet of the season against Franklin College on January 27. Despite a spirited performance, the Titans were unable to secure victory, with the Grizzlies winning by scores of 219-74 for the women and 177-104 for the men.
The Titans achieved first place in five events during the meet. On the women's side, sophomore Natalie Porter from Danville, Illinois, emerged as the sole individual winner by claiming first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:13.49. This marked a significant improvement from her previous best at Lewis earlier in the season.
For the men's team, three athletes secured wins. Sophomore Sam Fogarty from Pontiac, Illinois, led his team with victories in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.40) and 100-yard freestyle (49.09). Freshman Jack Hansen from Naperville won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.44. Junior Alex Kula from Pekin took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.92.
Illinois Wesleyan is set to compete next at the CCIW Championship scheduled for February 21-24.
