The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team is preparing for a home game against the University of Dubuque this Wednesday night. The non-conference match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Tucci Stadium.
The Titans come into this week with momentum, having secured a three-game winning streak after defeating Southwestern University 20-8 last Thursday. Junior Sam Weinberg and senior Trystan Seeley led Illinois Wesleyan's scoring efforts, each earning six points in the game. Weinberg contributed three goals and three assists, while Seeley added four goals and two assists. Nine players scored for the Titans, while thirteen players were credited with causing turnovers on defense. Senior Michael Campagna stood out with five caused turnovers and shared the lead in ground balls with Weinberg and junior goalkeeper Colin Tervo, each collecting five. Tervo played 45 minutes in goal, making nine saves before senior Alex Oximana took over for the final 15 minutes, adding three saves.
Illinois Wesleyan ranks tied for 14th in Division III for points per game at 25.50 and tied for 17th in assists per game at 9.38. Their caused turnovers per game rank them 39th in the division.
With a current record of 5-3, Illinois Wesleyan will face Dubuque, who holds a record of 6-4 (1-0 MLC). Dubuque recently defeated the University of Northwestern (Minn.) with a score of 16-6.
Since their first meeting in 2014, Illinois Wesleyan has won all nine encounters against Dubuque. In their most recent matchup on March 25, 2023, Illinois Wesleyan claimed victory with a score of 17-5.
