The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team concluded the first day of competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional on Friday, September 29, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Representing the Titans were sophomores Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri.
Turnbull and Vigneri started strong with a victory in doubles play, defeating Davis Housman and Alann Torress from the Illinois Institute of Technology by a score of 8-5. However, their journey ended in the Round of 32 when they lost to Scott Yamanoto and Sergiu Celebidachi from Washington University in St. Louis, with a scoreline of 8-3.
In singles matches, Turnbull secured a win against Peyton Specht from Ohio Northern University with set scores of 6-2 and 6-3. His progress was halted in the Round of 64 by Kael Shah from Denison University, who won both sets with scores of 6-1.
Vigneri faced Jack Booker from Wheaton College in his opening singles match but was defeated with set scores of 6-2 and 6-4. Vigneri is scheduled to compete in the consolation bracket at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 30.
