The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive teams participated in the first day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on February 22, 2024, in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Senior Lauren Feddersen from Champaign, Illinois, emerged as a champion for IWU by securing first place in the 200-yard individual medley. She achieved a personal-best time of 2:07.62, which was just one second shy of the school record held by junior teammate Hadley Fudge.
On the men's side, senior Ethan Lowder from Bloomington, Illinois, earned an All-CCIW spot by finishing second in the men's 50 Freestyle with a time of 20.95 seconds.
The men's team also performed well in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The team comprised Lowder, sophomore Sam Fogarty from Pontiac, Illinois; freshmen Jack Hansen from Naperville, Illinois; and Rylan Nelson from Normal, Illinois. They secured fourth place with a time of 1:24.29.
In another notable performance for IWU's women’s team, sophomore Kayleigh Kuschewski joined Feddersen along with junior Emily Marks and senior Bella Calcagno to achieve second place in the 400-yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:59.27.
Day two preliminaries are scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m., both available via live stream on CCIW's official YouTube account.
