Illinois Wesleyan swimmers achieve multiple accolades at CCIW Championship

At the conclusion of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swim and dive teams finished in fourth place. The three-day event ended on Saturday, February 24th in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Senior Lauren Feddersen from Champaign, Illinois, was named the CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Year. She achieved four victories, including three individual titles. Junior Natalie Porter from Danville, Illinois, excelled in the 1650-yard freestyle event by winning gold with a time of 17:46.14.

Junior Hadley Fudge from Stanford, Illinois, secured a runner-up position in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.11. Freshman Sam Boore from Hoffman Estates also performed well in this event by finishing just behind Fudge at 2:07.68.

Feddersen continued her success with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:20.50. For the men's team, senior Ethan Lowder from Bloomington placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle at 46.29 seconds while junior Carter Dilger from Sellersburg took fourth place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.37.

Lowder received the CCIW Elite 26 award for maintaining the highest GPA among student-athletes earning all-conference honors for three consecutive seasons. Senior Henry Moore and junior Alexa Starkey were awarded the CCIW Respect Award.

The Titans produced a total of 11 All-CCIW performances during the championships. Among those recognized were Feddersen, Lowder, senior Jackie Rae Kelch from Peoria, Hadley Fudge, junior Emily Marks from Cary, Natalie Porter, sophomore Kayleigh Kuschewski from Batavia, and Sam Boore.

Overall results included strong performances across various events for both men and women swimmers representing Illinois Wesleyan University.
