The Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive teams competed against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on January 13, with the women's team securing a victory and the men's team narrowly defeated. The women's team triumphed with a score of 183-77, while the men were edged out by Rose-Hulman 156-124.
In individual performances, junior Hadley Fudge excelled for the women, winning first place in three freestyle events: the 50-yard, 100-yard, and 200-yard races. Sophomore Kayleigh Kuschewski also stood out by claiming victories in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard individual medley. Lauren Feddersen secured wins in both the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke. Other notable performers included Sam Boore, Bella Calcagno, and Emily Marks.
For the men's team, senior Lane Wagner won two events: the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly. Sophomore Sam Fogarty took first place in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races. Freshman Jack Hansen claimed victories in the 100-yard breaststroke and butterfly events.
The Titans' relay teams also performed well. Kuschewski and Calcagno teamed up with freshmen Abi Zelikman and Olivia Kula to win the women's 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.24. Marks, Fudge, Feddersen, and Calcagno secured first place in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay at a time of 1:46.33.
On the men's side, Hansen and Fogarty joined Carter Dilger and Jay Jenkins to win their medley relay event with a time of 1:39.47. Jenkins later contributed to another relay victory alongside Fogarty, Alex Kula, and Rylan Nelson in their freestyle event clocking at 1:31.06.
Looking ahead, Illinois Wesleyan will host Illinois College along with Millikin University for an upcoming meet on January 19 at Fort Natatorium starting at six p.m.
