The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team concluded its weekend matches in Wisconsin with a 9-0 loss to Carthage College on Saturday, April 20. This defeat leaves IWU with a record of 9-8 overall and 2-4 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), while Carthage improves to 20-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

During doubles play, the No. 2 pair of sophomore Ben Vigneri from Casper, Wyoming, and junior Zeke Cross from Springfield, Illinois, were defeated 8-2. Similarly, freshman Thad Dillow from Effingham, Illinois, and sophomore Griffin Hammond from Metamora, Illinois also lost their match by an identical score.

In singles competition, sophomore Ian Turnbull from Bloomington, Illinois faced a tough opponent at No. 1 singles and was defeated with set scores of 6-1 and 6-4. Vigneri came close to forcing a tiebreaker in his No. 2 singles match but ultimately lost with scores of 7-5 and 7-6.

The Titans will conclude their regular season at home next Saturday, April 27. The first serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Doubles results were as follows:

1. Elios Briand/Myles Krezewinski (Carthage) defeated Ian Turnbull/Ryan McCoy (IWU) with a score of 8-0.

2. Cooper Ferruzzi/Francisco Silveira (Carthage) won against Ben Vigneri/Zeke Cross (IWU) by a score of 8-2.

3. Diego Silva/Luca Okino (Carthage) overcame Thad Dillow/Griffin Hammond (IWU), also finishing at an 8-2 result.

In singles matches:

1. Francisco Silveira (Carthage) defeated Ian Turnbull (IWU) with scores of 6-1 and 6-4.

2. Myles Frezewinski (Carthage) beat Ben Vigneri (IWU), scoring sets of 7-5 and 7-6.

3. Elios Briand (Carthage) won against Ryan McCoy (IWU), finishing at set scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

4. Diego Silva (Carthage) triumphed over Thad Dillow (IWU), achieving set scores of both sets at 6–1.

5. Cooper Ferruzzi's victory over Zeke Cross resulted in set wins of 6–2 and 6–0.

6. Luca Okino claimed victory against Jordan Sibley-Diggs with consecutive set scores of 6–1 each.
