The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team is set to commence the spring segment of its 2023-24 season on Saturday, February 3. The Titans will host Eastern Illinois University and Lawrence University at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. The matches are scheduled with IWU facing EIU at 10:30 a.m., followed by a match against Lawrence at 3 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan's team returns to competitive play after participating in two tournaments during the fall. The Titans took part in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Fall Invite on September 9-10, followed by select players competing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional on September 29-30.
Sophomore Ian Turnbull from Bloomington, Illinois, returns for another season with the Green and White. Turnbull was recognized with Second Team All-CCIW honors following a strong freshman year. Head coach Sam Totten, now in his seventh year leading IWU, brings back eight letterwinners from last year's squad that achieved ten wins—the highest number since the 2010-11 season.
Eastern Illinois approaches Saturday's matchup after losing to IUPUI, 5-2, on January 28. This will be only the second meeting between IWU and EIU; their first encounter ended with EIU winning 9-0 on February 8, 2019.
Lawrence University begins its season against the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Friday night before traveling to Bloomington for their match against IWU. This contest marks the second meeting between IWU and Lawrence, with their last match resulting in an IWU victory of 8-1 on April 11, 2009.
