Illinois Wesleyan University's men's tennis team is set to commence its 2023-24 season at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Fall Invite. The event will take place over two days, from September 9 to 10, at Plainfield East High School, hosted by North Central College.
Sam Totten, head coach of the team, is entering his sixth season leading the Titans. Last season, the team achieved its best record since 2010-11, finishing with a 10-10 score. The team welcomes back all but one player from last year’s roster. Among them is sophomore Ian Turnbull from Bloomington, Illinois, who was named a Second Team All-CCIW honoree. Turnbull made history as the fourth freshman in the program to receive All-CCIW honors.
In the previous year's CCIW Fall Invite, then-freshmen Ben Vigneri and Griffin Hammond made notable debuts for Illinois Wesleyan University. Vigneri participated in flight four of singles while Hammond competed in the seventh singles flight. Both players were in contention for a third-place finish before adverse conditions led to the cancellation of the second day of competition.
